Addressing Crevice Corrosion
Ageing Gas Platform with Crevice Corrosion
Challenge: During routine inspection of Small Bore Tubing assemblies by AFS Technologies asset integrity team it was noted that there was a higher than usual incidence of crevice corrosion under tube clamps.
Approach: We carried out an investigation into samples of the pitted tubing, determined the root cause and provided the operator with a range of remedial options.
Result: AFS Technologies installation team were contracted to replace all of the existing tubing and fittings with an alternative material and special tube clamps. The project was delivered within a tight timescale with more than 20 technicians mobilised to the offshore location.

Analysing SBT leakage
Leakage Root Cause Research
Challenge: The operator of a new project was experiencing leakage from newly installed special alloy tubing and fittings when pressure testing prior to commissioning the plant.
Approach: AFS Technologies proposed a full test program using different installation techniques and analysis of the components in each assembly. This program consisted of over 150 individual tests included testing materials to destruction and rear ferrule grip.
Result: AFS Technologies provided a bespoke installation process, later adopted by the fitting manufacturer for this specific material. This allowed the operator to ensure it's contractor installed leak-free connections.
